Fundings

There are many government and private bodies, which can aid you in securing funding for your research. Some of these organisations are listed below.

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is the UK’s leading research funding and training agency addressing economic and social concerns. We aim to provide high quality research on issues of importance to business, the public sector and government. The issues considered include economic competitiveness, the effectiveness of public services and policy, and our quality of life.

This programme promotes the linguistic diversity of the EU in the Information society It intends to raise awareness of and stimulate provision of multilingual services, favourable conditions for the language industries, reduced cost of information transfer among languages and contribute to the promotion of linguistic diversity.

The Trust, established at the wish of William Hesketh Lever, the first Viscount Leverhulme, makes awards for the support of research and education. The Trust emphasises individuals and encompasses all subject areas.

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) promotes and funds high-quality, cost-effective teaching and research in universities and colleges in England.

The British Academy receives grant-in-aid from the DfES to fund research at postdoctoral level in all branches of enquiry within the humanities and social sciences. The Academy’s funds are principally intended to support individual research, and a range of schemes are available to fund the intellectual activity of UK-based scholars through research appointments, research grants, conferences, joint projects, academic exchanges and networks.
