15th November 2008
International Academic Forum

2008, “Focus Andhra Pradesh” India

BITE was proud to present the International Academic Forum 2008 on 15th November 2008 at the Crick Hall at BITE main campus. The forum addressed the higher education sector in India and how the transatlantic relationship can build bridges in quality assurance, teaching and assessment standards between institutions of higher education and supporting students’ aspirations to study abroad. The psychological and personal benefits of undertaking postgraduate education in a different social and cultural environment can widen prospectives and knowledge scope.

Company’s like TATA are innovating in automotive technology rather than following models introduced by other countries this in turn increases the demand for skilled professionals. India is moving so fast that its education infrastructure is unable to meet the skilled demand of its burgeoning high-technology industries.

India is fast developing indigenous high-tech industries and the skilled professionals required to meet the demands necessitates the surmounting of the skills gap. In order to achieve this India will need to partner with developed nation in delivering quality of education, training and centres of research excellence.

In order to develop India’s own multi-national companies of tomorrow and follow the legacies of many TATA’s to come it needs to embrace the education sector, focusing on innovative research.

Companies like Roll-Royce in the United Kingdom owe their innovative success to partnership with leading academic institutions in the UK. As part of this they sponsor PhD research scholarship which enables them to tap into latest developing ideas.
