BITE’s Annual Report at the House of Lords
On the invitation of BITE’s Chancellor, Lord Ahmed of Rotherham, over sixty members of staff attended the presentation of the Annual Report for the year 2009, at the House of Lords, on December 14th.
After a pleasant afternoon tea in the Cholmondeley Room, which offered a great view of the Thames, there were speeches from Lord Ahmed, Dr Mohammed Farmer (BITE’s founder and Director) and Professor Les Hobson, OBE (the Director of Education and Research). All three noted the tremendous progress that the British Institute has made in the first decade of its existence, in particular the last year, which saw a considerable expansion in student numbers and the new members of staff required to serve them.
There are further plans to expand BITE’s programmes of study, especially in the postgraduate field, and to raise its profile even further as a provider of high quality higher education, so hopefully there will be even greater cause for celebration next year.
